TZVETAN TODOROV NARRATIVE THEORY

16 Feb 2006, Paris, France --- Tzvetan Todorov on the set of TV show

Biography: Tzvetan Todorov is a philosopher that has been writing a lot of books as well as essays and these left a significant influence to people until now.

Tzvetan Todorov suggests that all narratives start in a state of equilibrium which is then disrupted and finally reach resolution  where a new equilibrium is created. This theory is quite in order as it should be. This theory is still conventional for most of the films in this era.
TODOROV

There are five stages for this narrative theory to progress in:

  • Equilibrium – A happy start where everything is normal.
  • Disruption of the equilibrium – A little problem starts to occur
  • Recognition of the disruption
  • An attempt to repair the damage
  • New equilibrium
